Chennai the metropolitan city of India has well developed infrastructural facilities to serve its citizens. The city offers very beautiful and memorable places to visitors visiting Chennai. The forts, museums, temples, monuments etc every thing has its own historical significance.

One more thing that separates city from other cities is its parks. At one side where whole world is suffering from global warming and Chennai being the capital itself has huge traffic to maintain. But still the city is able to owe some beautiful parks within its boundaries. These parks are under the control of Chennai Municipal Corporation and therefore proper attention is paid on their maintenance.

A brief description of few most beautiful parks in Chennai is mentioned below:

Nageswara Park: Located in sub urban area of southern outskirts of city the park was opened for the public in 1940. Later in the same year three volunteers Mr. Ramayee Ammal, M. Nainappa Mudaliyar and V. Kumaraswamy Raja jointly donated the part of their lands which were closely attached to land area of the park. After that government underwent various steps to develop this park.

The major of this park is huge green lawn, water fountains, well furnished and designed benches for visitors to sit, beautiful garden lights and a playing area for children. The park is also developed as medicinal park as it has some very important trees of medicinal importance.

The park is well connected to railway and bus station. The nearest railway station Tirumaili is located at walking distance from park. Whereas, the nearest bus stand Mylapore is located 3 kms away from the park.

Natesan Park: Located in the heart of city in the T. Nagar area of the city, the park was developed by Ministry of Agriculture in 1950 as a botanical park. The park is has huge collection of botanical trees to name few are Crotons, Aralias, Bougainvillea, Acalypha, Ceesil Peniea, Pulcharima, Mahogany, Neem and Gulmohur.

The park is designed by sidewalks for visitors to walk with this beautiful garden lights and water fountains add the additional beauty to the park. One can enjoy the clean and fresh air in the park during morning hours. The park also encourage the upcoming tennis players as it has a separate tennis court located within its boundary. This court is maintained by the Corporation of Chennai.

The park premises provide an ideal place to refresh the mind and soul. The park is visited by people of all ages, people who come for a brief rest, joggers and environmentalists. Natesan Park is the only of its kind, in the region, that offers tennis coaching to youngsters. The tennis court at the park is maintained and run by the Corporation of Chennai itself.
