Driving Schools in Chennai

In order to obtain a driving license, one should be or more than 18 years of age. One has to submit a passport sized photograph and address proof. 

Address proof can be ration card/LIC policy/Electoral roll/Passport/Telephone bill/House tax receipt/School certificate etc.

As proof for date of birth either birth certificate /passport/school certificate/LIC policy etc can be submitted.

After submitting these documents, the person will get a learner’s  license which is valid only for 6 months. One month after getting the learner’s license, the person can apply for permanent license. 

Once the person has applied for permanent license, he/she has to appear for a driving test which is supervised by authorities from Road Transport Office. 

If the person clears the test, he gets a permanent license. If he doesn’t clear the test, he gets another chance to appear for the test.

Online Procedure to get Driving License in Chennai:

In order to apply for an appointment to  get a driving license online all you have to do is to follow the below mentioned steps:

  1. Open the Tamilnadu RTO appointment site.

  2. Download the RTO forms for driving license. Learner license in Chennai can be obtained by submitting either Form 1/Form 2/Form 4/Form 3 or Form 14 as applicable. All these forms are available online.

  3. Fill out the necessary details like your name, father’s name, permanent address.

  4. Select RTO jurisdiction district and RTO office.

  5. In Transport type specify Learner’s license or Driving License.

  6. In the sub type, specify if it is fresh license.

Once you have given these details, the site automatically gives the list of documents that need to be submitted at the time of appointment.

Documents required to obtain a Driving License:

For a new license one needs to submit the following documents.

  1. Learners License (This is obtained after submitting all the documents).

  2. Vehicle with Records such as Registration Certificate, Insurance Certificate, Tax Card, Pollution under Control Certificate, Fitness Certificate in case of Transport Vehicle.

  3. Consent letter from Vehicle Owner to undergo driving test in his vehicle in case the vehicle is not owned by the applicant.

  4. Form 1 for Learner’s driving license (LLR) Form 4 for driving license.

  5. Passport sized photos (3 copies).

Then select the suitable date of appointment and check the available dates. Enter the authentication code properly once you visit their website.

The driving schools teach the driver- in- the- making for about 20 days and thereafter, they apply for getting a driving license at RTO. Most people get through the test as the driving schools teach meticulously how to drive efficiently. 

The schools confess that there are equal number of men and women for 2 wheelers and 2 men for every woman in case of 4- wheelers.
