As Chennai remains hot for most of the year, the perfect time to visit Chennai will be in Winters. December to February can be the most optimum time period to enjoy Chennai at the fullest.

You can also visit the city in the monsoon period from June-August. But do not forget to carry your umbrella with you.

Chennai by Air:

Most of the international flights to India touch Chennai. Flights from US, UK, Australia, Germany, Middle East countries, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and many more countries have regular flights to Chennai. 

Also most of the cheap airlines from India and abroad operate from Chennai. All the important cargo airlines also have their services through Chennai.

There are also many chartered airlines operating from this city. Nearly all the international and domestic airlines namely Air India, Indigo, Spice jet, Malaysian airlines, Jet Airways operate and provide their services to this region. 

Chennai airport is well connected with other parts of the metropolis through buses, metered taxi, private transport and metro railways.

Chennai by Trains:

Chennai also play an important role in maintaining a vast network of trains of Indian Railways. It is the headquarters of Southern Railways. One can reach every corner of India through train, bus and other modes of transport from Chennai. 

Soon metro railways will be open for passengers which are under construction.Local trains in Chennai ply between major spots and bear the load of a huge workforce.

The Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT), is one of the largest bus terminus in Asia which serves as the terminus for all intercity buses from Chennai.

One can reach Chennai through the National Highways which connect Chennai with other metro-cities. These National Highways are- NH 8, NH 2, NH 4, NH 7, NH 79-A, NH 46 and NH 60.
