Bay of Life - Surf and Standup Paddling, located near Taj Vivanta Fisherman's Cove on the East coast road is Tamil Nadu's only licensed surf school and first ever surf school in all of Chennai. Furthermore, Bay of Life is recognized by The Surfing Federation of India (SFI) - the official and national governing body for surfing in India and Surfing and Water Sports Association of Tamil Nadu (SWAT) - the governing body of all surf schools operated in the state.

Bay of Life employs trainers who are certified in basic life support system by The Academy for Clinical Training (TACT India) and Wilderness First Responder (WFR) by The National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), USA. Covelong Point Surf School

Chennai also houses a social surf school in Covelong namely Covelong Point which is celebrated as the first surfing village in India. The yearly Covelong Point Surfing and Music Festival receive surfers and visitors from all over the world. The festival revolves around five different activities which include surfing, live music, yoga, food and family.
