Flora and Fauna in Guindy Park:
Established in the year 1977, the Guindy National Park plays the perfect host to over 7,00,000 visitors. With wildlife that shows variety and richness of the Indian land, it is the home of deers, jackals, black bucks, numerous birds, crawling creatures, butterflies to name a few.
With extensive conservation activities being carried out from time to time the National Park has been able to take care of its residents and thus, is a major tourist attraction bringing in a huge number of people each day.

With over 400 species of flora which range from grass, climbers, shrubs and a variety of trees it sure provides the best possible ambience for several varieties of fauna including birds of different kinds. With open grasslands a large part of the Guindy National Park it provides for a natural setting for the inhabitants.
With the bird population at the Guindy National Park showing both variety and beauty, it is amazing to simply watch the many different species to whom the national park is a safe home.
Eagles, Koels, Woodpeckers, parakeet, the tailor birds all continue to attract the tourists. Migratory birds too are an integral part of the setting and are a real treat for the bird watchers.
Rules and Regulations of Guindy Park:
With so much to see here, there are visitors who pour in from the length and breadth of the country and also abroad. With restricted entry into many areas of the Guindy National Park, special permission is required to access these areas and one can go only if accompanied by a forest ranger from the Forest Department.
How to reach Guindy National Park in Chennai
The nearest Railway station to the Guindy National Park is the Kasturinagar MRTS station which is approximately a kilometer from the park.
The Egmore Railway Station, Chennai, is at a distance of 9km from here and the Chennai Central station 12 kms. The Chennai Airport is located at a distance of 8 kms from the National Park.
There is an entrance fee of Rs 15 per adult and Rs 10 per child and additional fees for taking in a still / video camera.
The Park is open from 9 am to 6pm on all days of the week. National and other public holidays may be followed as a holiday by the park and it would be best to verify if the Guindy National Park is open before you proceed.
